Another Camera Bag
January 16th, 2012I know, I probably have a problem. Well, probably several, but one that’s relevant to this blog. I’ve got another camera bag. I’ll explain more inside…

Final Trossachs Round-Up
January 9th, 2012In this final post of the series on Loch Lomond and the Trossachs (for now), I’ll be rounding up the “odds and ends” – the extra locations and shot ideas that I think are worth mentioning but didn’t make it into a post of their own. This might be a bit long, so brace yourself and dive in… Read the rest of this entry »

Windows 7 Backup, Kaspersky Internet Security and the Datacolor Spyder
December 21st, 2011OK, so it sounds like either a bad “man walks into a pub” joke or a dubious play title, but these are the three components that (I think) have been slowly driving me nuts over the last week or so. And as I seem to have cracked it, I wanted to share in case it helps make anyone else’s life that bit easier. Read the rest of this entry »

Doon Hill
November 15th, 2011Doon Hill is a small wooded rise near Aberfoyle, nothing like the scale of Craigmore. It makes a great walk for most abilities and has plenty of opportunities for photos. Add in a fairy story and you’ve got a winner for the whole family. Details after the jump… Read the rest of this entry »

Loch Ard
October 19th, 2011Loch Ard lies in a valley to the west of Aberfoyle in the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. And it’s photographic heaven! There are plenty of locations to explore so there should be something here for any landscape photographer. More details after the jump… Read the rest of this entry »

Craigmore
October 3rd, 2011The next in my Trossachs series and following on from the Falls of the Little Fawn, this location is very close by.
Craigmore is the large lump of a hill that stands guard over Aberfoyle to its north-west. It’s the end of the tail of high ground that stretches down from Ben Venue before reaching the Duke’s Pass. For all that it looks intimidating from the village, it’s only about 350m up to the summit. That height makes it a fantastic viewpoint that is well worth the effort of climbing it. More after the jump…

Derwentwater from Keswick
September 27th, 2011The Kewsick and Derwentwater area is among the most popular destinations for visitors to the Lake District. Being picturesque, they are also popular with photographers and they are significant to me because of my childhood holidays. So on my visit to the Lake District earlier this year, I really wanted to try to get a sunset shot from around Keswick. In the event, the weather didn’t do what I was hoping but I still got a shot and explored some of the area. The details are shared inside…

Falls of the Little Fawn
September 20th, 2011I’m starting my Loch Lomond and the Trossachs series with a very popular subject, the Falls of the Little Fawn (aka Little Fawn Falls). Their popularity is probably mostly due to being close to Aberfoyle and within an easy walk from a much-visited forest centre. Even though they’ve been photographed many times, there is always scope for personal interpretation of the subject so they are worth a visit. The details are after the jump.
