One year ends, another begins

As 2011 rolls into 2012, it’s time to take stock and plan ahead.

As with last year, I’m not setting resolutions as such.  I’m going to carry on with the major areas I want to concentrate on; I made some good progress in 2011 and want to build on that in 2012.

Lake District

The trip I planned in the second half of 2011 came really close to coming off, but we had to cancel it at the last minute as something came up for my walk partner.  I’m already picking out some weekends in 2012 to put aside for Lakes trips, so I’m hopeful of fitting in more walks and more photos this year.

Durham project

This slowed down in the second half of last year as a result of my other commitments, so I intend to re-double my efforts this year.

Portraits

I did take a lot more portraits last year – lots informal and some more formal.  These were all family shoots so I didn’t blog about it.  It’s still an area I’ll continue to work on this year and if there’s anything useful I can share I’ll post an entry here.

Others

I got some great material from our visit to the Trossachs and built a series of posts based on our visits over the last few years. I have one wrap-up post to complete and I’m in the process of working through the final images, so it will be out soon.  We are unlikely to be visiting the area again this year because of things happening at home, but that should open up the opportunity to explore other areas or build up my Durham portfolio further.

On the equipment front, I’m planning to upgrade my filter system soon and that will no doubt end up the subject of a blog post at some point 🙂 .

Finally, my motto for 2012 should be “blog a little less, shoot a lot more”.  With this in mind, I popped out to shoot sunrise before breakfast on Christmas Eve:

Wishing you all the very best for 2012 and beyond,

Nick
